American Idol continued its live shows on Sunday night, opening with a performance by judge Luke Bryan kicking off the entertainment with his version of John Mellencamp’s “Small Town.”

Then it was time to get down to business as host Ryan Seacrest shared that the songs that the Top 14 would be performing were songs from the legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. And they got a little help preparing from this week’s superstar mentor Gene Simmons of KISS.

Also, Ryan announced that next week during the “Judges’ Song Contest” episode of American Idol, there will be a tribute to 2005 Idol alum Mandisa, who died on April 18.
