The Aiken Standard's annual Beach Music Festival returns on May 17

Apr. 18—The Aiken Standard is bringing the beach to downtown Aiken for its fourth annual Beach Music Blast on Friday, May 17.

The event will be held from 6-10 p.m. at the Newberry Street Festival Center, and will feature South Carolina party band The Swingin' Medallions.

Food vendors will include Kono Pizza and Nothing Bundt Cakes.

A Shag Dance contest will begin at 8 p.m. The first-place winner will receive a $250 gift certificate, second-place winner will receive a $150 gift certificate, and third-place winner will receive a $100 gift certificate. Gift certificates are provided by shag contest sponsor, Vikki's... A Unique Boutique.

Other sponsors for this year's event include Jack Rogers Tire Pros, Hearing Associates of South Carolina, Master Chevrolet, Hawk Law Group, Budget Blinds, Bridgestone, Aiken Electric Cooperative, Aiken Fish House, Family MedCenter and The Inn at Houndslake.

No coolers, outside food or tents are allowed, but people can bring chairs.

Attendees will need to enter through the Alley. Tickets are $20 at the gate, but can be purchased in advance for $10. Children 12 and under are admitted free. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit tickets.aikenstandard.com.

There are 25 VIP tables available for $500. VIP tables include admission for eight, chairs and a charcuterie board. Tables will be located in front of the band. The VIP area will also have its own port-a-potty and cash bar.
