Several of the leading characters on Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver are getting their own songs!

Rolling Stone can exclusively reveal that stars such as Jessie Reyez, Tokischa, Aespa, and Black Coffee will be featured on Songs of the Rebellion, an EP inspired by the characters of Netflix’s Rebel Moon sequel, out April 19.

Lead character Kora (played by Sofia Boutella) inspired Reyez’s “Child of Fire,” which the singer had already started writing before the offer to collaborate with Rebel Moon came to be.

“The skeleton of the song existed before Dot Da Genius and I got approached… to collaborate for Rebel Moon,” Reyez tells Rolling Stone. “However, the theme of the song happened to parallel the movie, so it seemed very kismet.”

“We massaged in minor lyric adjustments but it was very organic; as if the song was made for the movie before we even knew we’d be given the opportunity to contribute,” she adds.

Tokischa and Tainy came together to make “Jalo!” inspired by the House of the Bloodaxe, while Aespa paired up with Tokimonsta to create “Die Trying” based on sword master Nemesis.

“Being able to collaborate with K-pop act Aespa was incredible, especially as a Korean American,” Tokimonsta says. “Nemesis’ heroic strength, which arose from the depths of tragedy and darkness, fueled my creative process throughout the track.”

The film’s final two songs are “Ode to Ancestors” by Black Coffee, which was inspired by General Titus, and “Revolution” by Kordhell, based on the character, Jimmy.

“Working on the project was an exhilarating experience that stretched the boundaries of my creative process,” Kordhell says. “The cinematic scope of the Rebel Moon universe provided a vast canvas to paint my musical ideas on, pushing me to experiment with my sound in ways I hadn’t before.”

The EP will drop on streaming services on April 5, ahead of the Zack Snyder-directed film’s release.
