Adam Levine's awkward plea for 'Voice on Snapchat' winner

Ignatious Carmouche, 23, was the first winner of The Voice‘s Snapchat contest last season. Winning meant he got to fly to Los Angeles and hang out with Adam Levine, and was invited to sing in this season’s Blind Auditions.

Ignatious took advantage of his opportunity by showing off his pipes while singing “Latch” by Disclosure and Sam Smith. Blake Shelton and Jennifer Hudson were the only coaches who turned their chairs for Ignatious, which made things a tad uncomfortable for Adam Levine. Adam was the coach who choose Ignatious as a finalist in the Snapchat contest, so he felt bad for not picking the young singer during the Blind Audition. “As awkward as it is that I didn’t turn for you, I got my heart broken on the last one,” he said referring to the previous contestant. “And I was very sad, and I was in protest.”

Adam rights a wrong

Adam took the opportunity to right his wrong, saying, “So this is actually great, ’cause I get to redeem myself for not turning around.” The coach’s attempt to redeem himself just happened to involve screwing over his buddy, Blake. “Blake Shelton aside, a fantastic coach and a fantastic person — he’s not the right one,” Adam said. The Maroon 5 singer thought Jennifer Hudson was the right coach for Ignatious, adding, “I purely, genuinely believe this is where your heart is.” In the end, Adam’s plea was enough to persuade Ignatious to go with Hudson as his coach.
