Is Ed’s pasta dish breakup-worthy? We put our cooking skills to the test to get to the bottom of the '90 Day' drama

Sure, you’ve probably heard of engagement chicken or marry me pasta, but how about breakup pasta?

On the April 21 episode of 90 Day Fiancé, “Big Ed” Brown and Liz Woods break up once and for all (we think) — and this time, it was over Ed’s taco pasta dish.

“A few nights ago, Ed and I got in an argument in front of his family. His sister was at the house. Ed made dinner — taco pasta, but then Riley’s dish was just way too spicy for her, and Ed pretty much told her to stop being a baby,” Liz said in a clip from the episode.

“I don’t appreciate that, and I called him out on it. And he attacked me back,” she added.

The couple has broken up 14 times prior, but in this episode, Ed canceled their wedding without telling Liz.

“Yesterday, I received a text message from our officiant telling me how sorry he was that the wedding was called off,” Liz said. “Ed canceled our wedding without even telling me.”

Now, there are some recipes that are bad, but could Ed’s be actually breakup-worthy? We put our cooking skills to the test to get to the bottom of the 90 Day drama.

Ed’s taco pasta (below) is overly simple, so we took liberties with the method. For starters, I used a Dutch oven instead of a shallow skillet since this meal has a lot of broth.

While the hamburger — which is just ground beef — is browning, chop up all the vegetables so they are ready to go. Once the meat is fully browned, pour in all of the vegetables and add both the taco seasoning and the spicy ranch seasoning (such as Hidden Valley).

After 2 to 3 minutes of letting the veggies sauté, add in the beef broth. Two 32-oz. cans are completely unnecessary; it’s just way too much liquid. Instead, I just used one, which was more than enough. After letting the mixture come to a boil, it took 30 minutes for the meat and vegetables to really soak in all of the broth.

Once the base is done cooking, incorporate the cheese (I used about ½ cup shredded cheddar) and the pasta (I used 1 lb. of egg noodles).

Now for the taste test. After one bite, I learned that Ed’s “breakup taco pasta” lives up to its name. While it wasn’t overly spicy, as Liz suggests, it was way over-seasoned. The taco and ranch seasoning were overkill – the meal tasted like a bunch of sodium in a bowl. If the recipe called for just one seasoning mix, it would probably be much better.

Overall, the ranch aftertaste and liquid-y nature of the recipe made it not very enjoyable to eat. The upside? The one-pot meal is very easy to make. If you’re a die-hard 90 Day fan, you can give Ed’s very own, very simple recipe a try below.

Ed’s ‘Breakup’ Taco Pasta Recipe

1 ½ lb. hamburger with taco seasoning

1 onion, chopped

1 bell pepper (color of choice)

3 Roma tomatoes

1 clove of garlic, minced

Salt and pepper

Spicy ranch seasoning

2 cartons of beef broth

Cheese

Pasta noodles

1. In a skillet, add the hamburger meat. Once browned, sauté the vegetables and mix in the taco and ranch seasonings.
2. Add the beef broth and let come to a boil. Simmer until liquid absorbs into the meat, about 30 minutes.
3. Mix in cheese and pasta, and let simmer until noodles are ready. Enjoy!
