These 8 restaurants have recently closed in Rockland, Putnam, Westchester

While many new restaurants continue to open in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam, natural attrition — coupled with the lingering effects of the pandemic — means several more are closing. In Scarsdale, Larchmont and Piermont, the loss includes newcomers that had only been open for about two years.

Airmont Diner, Suffern

A Suffern landmark, in business for more than 40 years, has closed. Owner Dino Kyriacou posted the news on the diner's Facebook page on Feb. 16. "The customers of Airmont Diner were not strangers, they are friends and family. I have enjoyed seeing the children grow and bring their families in to meet me" he wrote. "We will miss each and everyone of you." 210 NY-59, Suffern

Bellasera Ristorante, Larchmont

An Instagram post from Feb. 11 says the restaurant, which had been in Larchmont since December 2019, has been sold to a new entity. On the post, the owners thanked the mayor and John Caparelli of the village's fire department "during the hard times COVID brought to our industry." No word yet on what will take its place. 1957 Palmer Ave.

Casa Del Mare, Upper Nyack

This Italian BYOB restaurant, in business since 1991, has closed. A sign on the door reads "Restaurant for Rent." 536 Route 9W

14 & Hudson Kitchen and Bar, Piermont

March 13 was the last day of operation for 14 & Hudson, which had been in Piermont for eight years. The restaurant, run by husband and wife Eric and Paula Clemente Woods, was known for its locally sourced New American fare and craft cocktails. The spot will turn into an Irish pub called “Reilly’s Public House." 457 Piermont Ave.

Foundry Cafe, Cold Spring

After 26 years in business, the Foundry Cafe, popular for its made-from-scratch soups, sandwiches, French toast, and coffee, closed in mid-February. Owner Jeff Consaga is retiring. 55 Main St.

Mazagan, Piermont

The lack of a liquor license coupled with the challenged of COVID made turning a profit hard for this Moroccan-Mediterranean restaurant, according to owner Omar Echchelh, The restaurant closed earlier this year just shy of two years in business. No word yet on what's taking its place but Piermont mayor Bruce Tucker said something soon is coming along with other "exciting restaurant developments." 506 Piermont Ave.

Ramenesque, Thornwood

Open since 2015, this ramen shop, with a location in Peekskill, has closed its Thornwood spot. The building is being demolished.14 Marble Ave.

Westchester Burger Co. in Scarsdale has closed though its food trucks are in business. The White Plains location, temporarily closed, is still scheduled to reopen. Photographed Feb. 26, 2022.

Westchester Burger Co., Scarsdale

The Westchester Burger Co. food trucks are still rolling but the location in Scarsdale, which opened in August 2019, has closed. The White Plains location on Westchester Avenue remains temporarily closed due the apartment construction going on next door but there are plans to reopen.
