All the cast members have to audition.

Friends are preferred when casting new Housewives...

...but friends still have to audition.

Everything in their life has to be fair game...

...even their phone conversations.

The women have to keep a blog.

The women get *some* input on their taglines.

They can’t change their hairstyle mid-season.

The women only get three interview looks.

Housewives have to be available for reshoots.

They have to coordinate for promo shoots.

Reunion looks are a little more lax.

They pay for their own glam team.

The Housewives work long hours while filming.

Their kids have lighter schedules.

Production sends out call sheets every day...

...and arranges phone calls.

Housewives can’t break the fourth wall.

Cast trips are paid for (sort of).

Housewives can pay to upgrade accommodations.

Attendance on cast trips is expected but not required.

The cast gets a say in where they go.

Alcohol is always available—and always free.

Bravo profits from the Housewives‘ businesses.

The Housewives are paid per season.

Salaries range by person.

Friends of the Housewives are paid per episode.

The Housewives can’t sue one another.

The show needs permission before filming in public places...

...and everyone around them has to sign a release.

Andy Cohen decides who returns each season.

It helps if you bring the drama.

You CAN get demoted.

Former cast members can’t go on another show.

Housewives can return if they’re asked back.

Filming the reunion is a long day.
