'MasterChef Junior' Sneak Peek: Christina Tosi Gets Radical in a Spandex Leotard

Watching MasterChef Junior is always a great way to feel old. Even a 14-year-old can feel like they’re wasting their life when they see how competent and talented the kids competing on the show are. But sometimes the show likes to really twist the knife.

Case in point: This week, the judges are dressing up in the “traditional” garb of the decade they were born in. Gordon Ramsay is dressed like a cartoon hippie; Graham Elliot looks like Disco Stu from The Simpsons, and Christina Tosi looks like she was ripped straight out of an MTV video from the ‘80s.

It’s a fun image to see them opposite a gaggle of kids, none of whom were born until well after the new millennium had begun. Young Jesse greets the sight of Christina on roller skates with a seeming mix of awe and terror and Ian looks as if he’s seen a ghost. Or an alien. Or possibly an alien ghost.

Christina also gives us a good reminder of the dangers of nostalgia when her roller skates go out from under her and she takes a spill at the doors of the MasterChef Kitchen. You can never go home again, they say, and if you do, you risk falling on your butt.

MasterChef Junior airs Fridays at 8 p.m. on Fox.
