Family celebrates grandma's 95th birthday from a safe distance: 'We love you SO much'

Because of the ongoing global pandemic, older individuals who are most vulnerable are required to stay isolated. However, the Byrne family in Syracuse, New York, refused to let even social distancing get in the way of celebrating their grandmother’s 95th birthday.

On March 18, granddaughter Sara Byrne uploaded a video to her Instagram showing her and her family wishing Grandma Kathleen a happy birthday from a safe distance.

“We had to keep our distance but we couldn’t not see our best girl on her birthday!!!” Sara wrote on Instagram. “Happy 95th Gram, we love you SO much!!!”

In the video, family members can be seen wearing party hats and holding up letters that together read “happy birthday.” Grandma Byrne is all smiles as her family sings “Happy Birthday” and cheers.

According to Syracuse.com, Grandma Byrne has a huge family consisting of seven sons, 22 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

“I’m sorry we all couldn’t be together, but you are all together,” Grandma Byrne can be heard saying from her porch.

On Instagram, people can’t seem to get enough of Gram and the Byrne family.

“This gives me all of the feels. So sweet,” one Instagram user responded. “This warmed my heart!!! God bless her and you all!” another said.

In another Instagram post, granddaughter Sara gave a special shoutout to Grandma Byrne. She wrote: “If you’re lucky enough to know Grandma Byrne, you’re lucky enough!! Wishing this amazing lady a very happy 95th birthday today, love you Gram!”
