Man stuns girlfriend inside tornado-wrecked Nashville home: 'I don't want to lose you'

A Tennessee couple created a beautiful moment in wake of a natural disaster when they got engaged amid the wreckage of their Nashville home.

Caitlin Parson and her now-fiance, Buster Hughes, were recording a video inside their apartment, which had its roof torn off during last week’s deadly tornados, to thank those who donated to their GoFundMe page and supported them in their time of need.

However, Hughes clearly had bigger plans than issuing a simple “thank you” to followers — while standing in the destroyed residence, he suddenly got down on one knee, surprising Parson in a tearjerking moment that made the bride-to-be sob.

“I don’t want to lose you, I want to protect you for the rest of your life,” Hughes tells Caitlin in the video. “I love you.”

On March 3 — the day the tornados ripped through middle Tennessee, killing at least two dozen people — Hughes took to Facebook to share that he and Parson had miraculously survived the storm.

“We are lucky to be alive, but we’ve lost everything,” he shared. “Luckily we got in the bathtub in time because our entire roof came off and our entire apartment is flooded and damaged. The first picture is from across the street, the second is from my former doorway.”

“The things we’ve lost we can always replace,” he added. “I’m just glad we’ve still got each other."

The couple’s GoFundMe page has since raised more than $16,000 of its $20,000 goal.
