20-year-old claims bar manager 'humiliated' her because of her 'inappropriate' shirt: 'I wasn't topless'

Two young women on TikTok said they were left feeling “humiliated” after allegedly being kicked out of a bar for their outfits.

Unfortunately, as the weather gets warmer and cities start opening up again, similar accounts have been popping up on TikTok. In early May, a woman made headlines after she accused amusement park security of asking her to leave because of her shorts. Prior to that, a young woman claimed a mom pressured her to leave a beach because she was wearing a bikini.

In this instance, in a TikTok that has since been made private, Mollie Wood claimed that a manager at The Back Beyond in Reading, England, said he would not serve her because her top was essentially like “a man being shirtless” in the establishment.

Wood and her friend, Amy Lee, said they were dressed in black halter tops, ankle-length skirts and sneakers to battle the 82-degree heat and the crowds that were gathering after the England game against Croatia. The Daily Mail was able to share the footage before Wood’s account was made private.

Initially, Wood and Lee said they were allowed into the bar by a female bouncer, but the male manager allegedly refused to serve them. He argued that he’d been turning away shirtless men “all day.”

“He said, ‘You can’t come in here, you’re dressed really inappropriately, and it isn’t suitable. You can’t be wearing a top like that,'” Wood recalled.

The girls questioned him as to what made their outfits inappropriate, and that’s when he allegedly said their outfits were like “a man being topless.” They asked about the bar’s dress code but said the manager wouldn’t give them a straight answer.

Later, Wood said she researched online and found nothing that pointed to a dress code for the establishment. She also mentioned that she had worn the exact top in the same bar earlier that week.

“I was just really embarrassed,” she said. “I told him how sexist it was to compare me to a topless man. I was wearing a top I wasn’t topless.”
