On Wednesday, Entertainment Weekly debuted the first detailed photos from the live-action Beauty and the Beast, premiering in 2017 and starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens as the respective title characters. In Belle’s iconic yellow ball gown, Emma looks magical, beautiful, and just about every other positive adjective you can find in the dictionary, while Dan in his Beast formalwear looks, well, beastly. This is not to say that he looks bad or anything, just that those horns are formidable. The Beast in the cartoon is kind of like a glorified dog-warthog-goat-man who very clearly wouldn’t hurt a fly, but if you saw this guy coming toward you in the dark, you would be forgiven for thinking you were being set upon by a hell beast. In that spirit, here’s a list of 10 horned creatures that evil sorceress might have used for inspiration when she cursed the Beast with his furry new look. (This movie still looks great though.)

1. Daniel Radcliffe in Horns. When you think about it, Ig and the Beast are kind of in the same predicament - people don’t trust them because they have giant horns growing out of their heads. At least Beast doesn’t have to deal with the whole “being able to control snakes” thing.

2. The faun from Pan’s Labyrinth. It could be worse: Beast could look like the guy with eyes on his hands.

3. Giles from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, that time he got turned into a demon. The resemblance is uncanny.

4. An Aries. The Beast has got to be an Aries, right? Quick-tempered, impatient, impulsive, ram-horned…

5. The Balrog from The Fellowship of the Ring. Fly, you fools!

6. Darkness from Legend. If you don’t know what Legend is, I am sorry that you have never known true happiness. Legend is a movie about Tom Cruise trying to save the last unicorns, and also Ferris Bueller’s girlfriend is there. It is delightful and you should watch it immediately.

7. A bantha from Star Wars. The preferred transportation method for Sand People.

8. Maleficent. Maybe they can do a crossover live-action movie together!

9. Chernabog. From the Fantasia sequence that has haunted you since birth.

10. Krampus. Be good this holiday season or he’ll sneak into your house in the night and carry you away in a sack. (And here Santa thought his coal-in-the-stocking bit was actually threatening.)
