Big names in the music industry, like Olivia Rodrigo and Drake, will perform in Oklahoma City this year, attracting thousands of Oklahomans from all over the state. But some performers are skipping Oklahoma, choosing neighboring states instead.
Here are some of the biggest concert tours skipping over Oklahoma City in 2024 — and the closest locations to catch a show before they leave the area.
Taylor Swift
With 60 shows in 2023, Taylor Swift's "The Eras" stadium tour became the first tour in history to earn more than $1 billion.
If you missed it last year, Swift will perform three times at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis from Nov. 1-3, featuring Gracie Abrams.
George Strait
Since he played his farewell trek a decade ago, country music legend George Strait rarely tours these days. But Strait and singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton played seven stadium dates together last summer and will perform nine more this year, including at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on May 4, or at the Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, Iowa on May 25.
Chris Stapleton
Stapleton also will perform at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas on June 15, featuring the Tedeschi Trucks Band and Marcus King.
Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Red Hot Chili Peppers' tour kicks off in February, making stops at the Isleta Amphitheater in Albuquerque, New Mexico on June 7, and at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in St. Louis, Missouri on July 30.
Bruce Springsteen
After playing last year at the BOK Center in Tulsa, the Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band 2024 tour is traveling across Canada, the East Coast and California. It stops in Phoenix, Arizona, on March 19 and in Las Vegas on March 22.
Noah Kahan
Singer-songwriter Noah Kahan will skip over the Sooner State during his tour, which starts later this month in Australia.
The closest show where Oklahomans can catch him is in Dallas at the Dos Equis Pavillion on June 11.
Green Day
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band Green Day will start the North American leg of "The Savior’s Tour" in July, making stops at the Azura Amphitheater in Kansas City on Aug. 20 and the Germania Insurance Amphitheater in Austin, Texas on Sept. 10.
Both dates will also feature bands Rancid and The Linda Lindas.
Madonna
In 2023, the music icon postponed "The Celebration Tour" and canceled a show planned for Tulsa's BOK Center.
But Oklahomans can see Madonna on "Celebration Tour" on March 24 and 25 at either of two shows at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
The tour features Bob the Drag Queen, or Christopher Delmar Caldwell, who’s known for winning the eighth season of "RuPaul's Drag Race."
The Rolling Stones
The Rolling Stones will be back on the road in April making their first stop at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on April 28.
The Houston show will be the closest stop of the tour to Oklahoma.
Blink-182
Blink-182 will kick off the "One More Time Tour" in February. The band will perform at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas on June 25.
