Get a First Look at Nat Geo's Plymouth Movie, 'Saints & Strangers'

Saints & Strangers isn’t your grandmother’s Thanksgiving pilgrims story.

National Geographic Channel’s upcoming original four-hour movie event digs deep into Plymouth lore, telling the sometimes-harsh, often-uplifting tale of 101 men, women, and children who crossed the fearsome Atlantic Ocean to settle into the New World. And Yahoo TV has the first four images of the cast members, including Mad Men’s Vincent Kartheiser and Pitch Perfect’s Anna Camp.

We can also reveal that Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer will score the main title theme music, while Bleeding Fingers Music — a partnership between Zimmer and Extreme Music — will score the rest of the film.

“Hans Zimmer is synonymous with grand, legendary scores for movies and television,” said Tim Pastore, National Geographic Channel’s president of original programming and production. “We are honored to have him join the Saints & Strangers team to help us bring this epic story of American history to life.”

The title, Saints & Strangers, refers to the divide amongst the Mayflower’s settlers, between the “pilgrims” (religious separatists seeking the freedom to worship as they wished) and adventurers seeking riches. The differences between their objectives and values led to major clashes — which only imperiled the colony even as they were struggling with weather, food gathering, and the Native Americans already living on the land.
