The Secret Service is running out of money - and it's all because of President Donald Trump.

The president's hectic travel schedule and large family has cost the overworked agency, according to a Monday report from USA Today. More than 1,000 agents have already hit their yearly salary and overtime caps.

Trump has traveled nearly every weekend to his properties in Florida, New Jersey, and New York. His sprawling family has also traveled extensively for vacations and business: His daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner take regular vacations from Washington to exclusive resorts in Aspen and Vermont, and his younger daughter, Tiffany, has traveled to Germany and Hungary with her boyfriend. All of those trips require Secret Service protection.

Congress must pass legislation to increase the agents' salaries. But because agents have continued to work even though they've hit their salary and overtime limits - the president must be protected, after all - some might not be paid for their additional work.

How much has Trump cost the agency? His son Eric's business travel to Uruguay cost $100,000 just for hotel rooms. One of the president's visits to Mar-a-Lago, meanwhile, comes in at about $3 million. And there and at Bedminster, the president's New Jersey golf club, the Secret Service has spent an eye-popping $60,000 on ... golf carts.
