Just shy of two weeks since her husband's inauguration, First Lady Melania Trump has announced her decision to hire Lindsay Reynolds as her chief of staff.

According to a White House statement on Wednesday, the George W. Bush administration vet will serve as both assistant to President Donald Trump and the first lady's chief of staff. The statement adds that she "brings over fourteen years of experience in political fundraising, event management, and logistical expertise" to both roles.

"I am putting together a professional and highly-experienced team which will take time to do properly," the first lady said. "I am excited to be organizing and bringing together such a dynamic and forward thinking group of individuals who will work together to make our country better for everyone."

In the same statement, Trump acknowledged that there had been a delay in staffing, which has so far led to a few delays in her duties as FLOTUS - but Reynolds explained this was because Trump is taking her time to make sure she is choosing the best candidates for each role.

"The first lady is thoughtfully selecting her team, establishing the office of the first lady and supporting her husband President Trump," she said.

Prior to her Wednesday announcement, Trump announced that she had chosen former Vogue staffer and Met Gala organizer Stephanie Winston Wolkoff as her senior adviser. According to the Washington Post, Natalie Jones - former deputy chief of protocol appointed by former President Barack Obama - is currently in the lead to be the White House's social secretary.
