Gabby Douglas Explains Why She Spent the VMAs in the Hospital
When the Final Five hit the red carpet at the VMAs on Sunday, fans immediately noticed that one of the gold medal-winning Olympians was missing. Multiple sources soon reported Gabby Douglas had been admitted to the hospital for a serious mouth infection, and, now, in a post to Instagram on Tuesday, she explained in her own words what exactly had happened.
"I had a complication from a prior injury that caused a cyst to grow on a bone in my mouth," she wrote, alongside a photo of her in what appears to be a dentist's office. "Got it removed, and feeling much better now! Thanks for all your concerns and prayers, and HUGE thank you to the doctors that have taken care of me these last four days!"
Gabby also reassured fans she was "doing OK" and already #OnTheRoadToRecovery. However, she said she still will have to get her wisdom teeth removed - something she's clearly not looking forward to.
