The Adorable Way Lea DeLaria Met Her Fiancé Through an "Orange Is the New Black" Co-Star
Lea DeLaria met her fiancée, Chelsea Fairless, through Orange Is the New Black co-star Emma Myles in the cutest way.
Myles, who plays ex-meth-addict Leanne, and Fairless have been best friends since high school. "I was shooting with Lea, it was the second week of shooting, and I realized she was going to go after one of the extras, because she was, like, 'One of the extras is really cruising me. I'm going to go for it,'" Myles told Cosmopolitan.com at the season two premiere of Netflix's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on Wednesday. "And I was, like, 'You should go out with my best friend Chelsea!'" Myles says. "I kind of just blurted it out. Some strange force was making me do it, and I was, like, oh, I can't believe I just said that! But they ended up switching phone numbers, and they went out a couple of nights later, and they've been together ever since. And they're getting married, and I'm going to be the ring bearer."
DeLaria chimed in, "That's literally what she did, she just blurted it out: 'You should go out with my best friend.' And I said, 'Why?' And she said, 'Because she says there aren't any butches anymore.'" DeLaria says that's exactly the right thing to say to get her attention. "So I said, 'Let me see a picture,' and I saw a picture, and I went, 'OK.' We talked on the phone a couple of times and she was really funny, and we met. And here we are four years later getting married. Crazy, isn't it?"
"Isn't that fun? It makes me so happy," Myles said. The two plan to tie the knot on Jan. 8 in New York City.
