Viola Davis is the MVP of the 2015 awards season, collecting accolades endless for her fearless portrayal of defense attorney Annalise Keating in ABC’s smash hit, How to Get Away with Murder. While an acceptance speech in a room packed with celebs is undoubtedly daunting, on a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Davis explained it was the least of her worries when she picked up her statuette at the SAGs for Best Actress in a Drama Series. “The next thought I had when they announced my name was ‘OK this is it, I’m going to fall flat on my face’ because my bunion—I’ve got a bunion in my right foot.”

Thankfully, Davis has a knack for DIY and summoned her husband fetch Crisco, of all things, prior to the show as a precautionary measure. Davis went on to explain, “I just go in there and put it allover my bunion and my toes and the bottom of my feet.” Why Crisco? Davis claims that besides keeping ashy skin at bay, “It keeps the friction away from the shoe and toe, and there you go!”  Time to invest stock in Crisco!
