Dry shampoo is one of the best beauty inventions to hit the 21st century, and I’ve become so dependent on it that I keep it at my desk, in my purse, and on my vanity table. Nothing lifts you up like a quick hair touch up. That said, when I first started using dry shampoo, I had no idea how much to apply or where to spray, so I usually over-sprayed at my roots, leaving visible white residue in broad daylight. “Why’s your hair gray?” my friends would ask, before #GrannyHair became trendy. I’d anxiously run my hands through my hair a couple times, hoping to disperse the powder buildup.

I just discovered the Style Edit Invisible Dry Shampoo ($20), which is paraben-free and made of micro-powders so minuscule that it sprays invisible even if you sprayed directly onto black clothing, as I’ve tried, just to test its limits. The spray contains oil-absorbers and neutralizers to minimize odors and strengthen your hair before your next wash. It also adds body and volume to your hair without adding the feeling of heavy powder. I highly recommend trying out this particular dry shampoo if you’re the type of person to spritz without looking in the mirror — you’ll never worry about over-spraying again. It’s as close to actually washing your hair as it gets.
