Working with Dark Eyelids
I’ve always thought it’s really beautiful when a woman has a lot of natural color on her lids. It adds that little bit of depth that most of us have to add with makeup. If you have eyelids that are a darker shade than the rest of your face, and you do want to apply eyeshadow, you have to approach it a little differently. Here’s how:
Avoid darker shades which will make your eyes recede.
Red or rosy shades won’t work with darker lids, the color combination will only make you look tired.
On days that you want your lids to look lighter and brighter, start by sweeping a yellow-based powder with a fluffy eyeshadow brush. Apply white shadow if you have fair skin, bone shadow if you have medium skin, and a pale yellow if you have darker skin.
Lighter shades will work best for darker lids—a nude eye palette is a great choice. Cream, pale pink, and peach will combine with your lids to create a pretty, unique color.
