Where to Get Pretty in LA

Sarah Gibson Tuttle’s a woman who knows exactly what she wants in a beauty treatment. So much so, that when she moved from New York to Los Angeles and couldn’t find a nail salon that met her standards, she opened her own. Olive & June, named for her grandmothers, has become the go-to spot for celebs like Drew Barrymore and Jessica Alba—it also earned Tuttle a write up in this month’s Vogue. She gave us her ultimate guide to getting primped across Los Angeles.

HAIR
I jumped onto the long bob bandwagon, courtesy of Ale Saman at Meche, and I’m totally obsessed with her cutting skills; she transformed my hair. I always get my blowouts at Drybar.

FACIALS
Shani Darden works magic on my face. I barely ever wear makeup anymore since I’ve been seeing her. I especially love her LED lights; I glow for days afterward.

HEALTHY SNACKS
Everything at Erewhon is yummy and healthy. They pull in a lot of brands that only sell at Farmer’s Markets in LA, so if you don’t have time to go to them, you aren’t out of luck. Their tonic bar is divine.

SHOPPING
When I moved to LA, my style changed. I started to really like a looser fit, but I didn’t want shapeless, blah clothing. So I found Tenoversix. Brady & Kristen (the owners) have an impeccably curated selection of clothes and sunglasses; I never walk out empty handed. For fun, younger pieces, I like Reformation.

WORKOUT
I have been a Tracy Anderson girl off and on for years, both in New York and in LA. Her workouts are the most intense and the most complete. Sometimes I swear under my breath, but I always leave happy that I came.

JUICE
Beverly Hills Juice Club is the freshest and most organic juice in California. The Apple/Ginger/Coconut is my favorite.

ACUPUNCTURE
Magie at Echo Park Community Acupuncture is kind of under the radar. She’s been key to helping me stay centered and her energy is fantastic.

BEST GIFT TO GIVE
Sometimes you want to send something other than flowers (though if I was to send flowers, they’d be from Moon Canyon) and Valleybrink Road boxes are the gift to give. They’re full of sweet and savory local treats (and sometimes even flowers, too).

NAILS
Not only do I own Olive & June, but I love getting my nails done there. I never thought I would become a fan of nail art, but our manicurists have totally gotten me into it. My favorite to date was the Statue of Libery crown for my most recent New York trip.
