Was Louis Vuitton Inspired by Sailor Moon?

Paris Fashion Week came to a close today, but not before going out with an intergalactic bang at the Louis Vuitton show. Models hit the runway with variations on manga-inspired lashes (courtesy of genius Pat McGrath) and tiny braids interspersed with flowing locks (by hair master Paul Hanlon). It was hard to put a finger on the beauty reference for this space-age feeling show, but once Fernanda Ly (the pink-haired Australian model) stepped onto the catwalk, I knew it could only be one thing: Sailor Moon.

Ly’s signature pink hair aside, her bangs, jeweled tiara, and deconstructed lashes made her a total doppelgänger for the intergalactic warrior princess. As the rest of the models hit the runway, the Sailor Moon vibe remained strong, with more exagerrated manga-inspired cat eyes, bejeweled chokers, headbands, holographic metallic fabrics, a nebula-printed bag, and a pair of sunglasses that looked straight out of a sci-fi film.

While the inspiration has yet to be revealed by the backstage beauty team, the models sure had a lot in common with the intergalactic warrior princess from Tokyo.
