We all know when women say they #WokeUpLikeThis there’s usually a decent amount of no-makeup makeup and skin-enhancing filters at work. The same goes for male models. Sure, there are enough sun-drenched selfies set against fresh linens or a bed of sand to fill an entire encyclopedia, but more often than not, the subject himself has spent inordinate amounts of time on his morning routine before returning to his bed for an “impromptu” photo shoot. In many cases, teams of groomers have gathered to achieve a certain just-rolled-out-of-bed nonchalance. So what’s really happening behind the scenes? Here, three real-life ‘Zoolanders’ share their grooming essentials. (Pro-tip: ‘Grab and go’ is their collective mantra.)

Adam Senn

How you know him: VH1’s Hit the Floor, Dolce Gabbana campaigns and he is a partner at Il Bastardo restaurant in NYC.

Back to basics
“I’m such a Texan, it’s a great day if I take a shower. [laughs] I workout 5-6 times a week, so of course, I shower, but natural oils are always the way to go! In the shower, I keep it old school. I like the Irish Spring soap bar, that commercial had me since I was young. [laughs]”

Cleanse
“I use Clinique facial scrub a few times a week. It’s good to exfoliate the body, too, one or twice a week with a loofa, but my hands are just as rough as the loofa, so it doesn’t matter whether I use it or not.”

Dental
“My dentist was a part of Tony Hawks’s skate crew. He gave me a black Sonicare toothbrush and I take it everywhere I go.”

Hair
“On [Hit the Floor], they keep a barber on set. He gives me my fade for the show every two days. In the six months between shooting, I had maybe two tiny trims. I prefer to grow it out, or shave it all off. I occasionally use my girlfriend’s shampoo, but not every often. I like olive oil paste as it gives the hair a nice weight so it looks lived in for a few days.”

Deodorant
“Toms, I’m trying to keep it natural.”

How you know him: DKNY campaigns, husband of Olivia Palermo, and Valentino muse.

About face
“I started using LaMer after Olivia and I participated in a digital campaign for the brand…amazing products! I use La Mer face wash, and toner, which looks like an aftershave. I really like the scent and the way it feels on my skin.

I also use La Mer Illuminating Eye Gel — fantastic for removing dark circles — and La Mer sunblock, 30 or 50 SPF, depending on how much I’m exposed to the sun.”

Hair, bath and body
“I use Cowshed body wash, the one they carry at SoHo House. I don’t shampoo everyday, but every other day instead. I use L’Oréal EverStrong as it has less chemicals, and a little Shu Uemura paste in my hair, and then I’m good to go.”

Deodorant
“I use a very simple supermarket chain from Germany that you can’t get in the U.S. It’s only $3.50, so I bring ten bottles back every time I go to Europe, and it lasts me a couple of months. It’s a spray that doesn’t contain alcohol; it smells really good, and doesn’t stain the clothes.”

Evening Hours
“In the evening, I use the same face wash, a Philips Sonicare electric toothbrush, and Elmex toothpaste that I also bring over from Germany.”

How you know him: Calvin Klein Underwear, Ferragamo, and Ports campaigns, multiple DETAILS magazine covers and Katama swimwear designer.

Face forward
“I use Malin + Goetz moisturizer, and its lip balm. I like the packaging, but I also use various Kiehl’s and L’Oreal products from time to time. When I’m traveling, I really buy what’s nearby, so I end up with products from all over the place.

Kiehl’s Eye Alert is nice. It comes out in small portions, and it’s a little more delicate so you can control how much you apply.”

Fragrance
“I like dried fruit and musky smells. Le Labo makes great stuff, especially Santal. BLK DNM carries a nice scent as well.”

Hair can make a career
“I tend to use Redken Brew shampoo, and also its Styling Putty. I like Kérastase Paris oil to keep the hair hydrated. I wash it a few times a week and rinse it a few times a day after workouts, so it helps.”

Treat yourself
“Yes, I get ‘mani-pedis’ as they call them. [laughs] When I’m working, I don’t go as often because [there are professional manicurists] on set. But when I have time off, I go every couple of weeks with my mom or my sister, whoever I can convince to come along. Everything’s a lot easier to talk about when you’re getting a foot massage.”
