Tip of the Week: Creating a Radiant Glow with Blush

For a fresh and pretty flush, I like to use a combination of two blushes—a more natural shade and a brighter pop of color. I have found over the years that two blushes work better than one. Alone, the more natural color often fades easily, and the brighter color can be too much by itself in daylight. The combination of the two creates the ultimate radiant, healthy glow. Here’s how to get the look:

  • To find the right natural shade of blush, choose a powder formula that matches the color your cheeks turn when you pinch them. It should add color to your face without looking obvious. The second blush, should be a more vibrant shade to add a pop of color. Whether it is shimmer or matte is up to you.

  • Smile. With fluffy curved brush apply to the apples of the cheeks and blend outward toward the hairline. Keep blending until the color looks natural and you can’t see any lines.

  • With the same brush, apply the brighter color to the apples of the cheeks. It should add instant radiance to your face. Use the brush to blend.

  • You can also do this layering technique with bronzer. Pair bronzer with the brighter blush (the natural shade would look ruddy) for a healthy, outdoorsy look.
