As Carrie Fisher fans are still in shock at her passing Tuesday, people have been showing their love for the late actress by sending their condolences to the family and even posting photos wearing the Princess Leia hairstyle that Fisher made famous in her Star Wars role.

Fisher’s mother, Debbie Reynolds, once warned her to be careful of roles that required “any weird hairdo.” Luckily for us, Fisher ignored that advice. But where did the idea for the unique ’do come from? George Lucas borrowed from the past, telling Time magazine in 2002, that he was “working very hard to create something different that wasn’t fashion, so I went with a kind of Southwestern Pancho Villa woman revolutionary look. … The buns are basically from turn-of-the-century Mexico.”

Prior to Fisher’s death, one of the Princess Leia wigs worn by the star was sold through the Hollywood Legend’s auction at Julien’s Auctions Gallery in March 2012.

The wig sold for $1,152, which is somewhat surprising considering the slave bikini costume sold for a whopping $96,000 in October 2015. The gold bikini, another standout style favorite, was worn by Fisher in a scene at Jabba the Hutt’s palace on the desert planet of Tatooine. Both collector’s items may be worth double, if not triple the amount they originally sold for now as Fisher fans would love to hold memories of her legacy close. Only time will tell.
