The Power of Just One Eyeshadow

Never underestimate the power of a light matte eye shadow.  Just one pale shadow can beautifully open up your eye, add a highlight to under your brow bone, and lighten up a too dark lid. Using a light shade can also bring out deep set eyes and make eyes that are close together appear farther apart. The added bonus is it’s totally foolproof to apply. Here’s the scoop:

  • If your skin is fair, go with a white or ivory shadow. If you have darker skin, choose a very pale yellow or peach-toned shadow.

  • To apply, sweep the shadow with a fuller flat shadow brush all the way across the lid. Go from the lashline to just above the crease.

  • To bring out deep set eyes, apply the shadow from the lashline all the way up to the brow bone.

  • Always pair this look with liner and black mascara for added definition.

  • If you want to make eyes that are closer together appear farther apart, apply shadow to the inner corners of your lids. Even if you are adding more shadow colors, this will work as long you keep the inner lids in a pale hue.

  • To spotlight your brows, apply a sweep of soft shadow just underneath.

  • In a pinch, you can use this shadow to set concealer and make it last longer.
