We already told you who did Caitlyn Jenner’s hair for her Vanity Fair cover shoot, but now we know what happened makeup-wise behind the scenes. Check out some of the highlights:

Skin prep was key for Jenner (and for all of us!).
Makeup artist Mark Carrasquillo prepared her skin with Bioderma Sensiobio H20, a no-rinse micellar water that soothed her sensitive skin. Then Carrasquillo applied an SK-II Facial Treatment Mask (an all-time editor favorite!) before massaging on Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil, which has anti-aging ingredients like hazelnut oil and lotus extract. A swipe of La Mer Lip Balmcompleted her super-hydrated look.

She was contour-free.
You’d think swapping makeup tips with Kim Kardashian would lead to some expert contouring technique, but given Jenner’s stronger facial features, Carrasquillo steered clear of bronzer and shadowing.

But her eyelashes got a boost.
In order to create the most natural-looking lashes, her glam squad applied individual Velour lashes, made entirely of fluffy mink hair. Carrasquillo then topped it off with Estée Lauder More Than Mascara, lending a heavier hand closer to the root.

Jenner’s makeup artist found new uses for certain products.
Instead of traditional eyeshadow, Carrasquillo used Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder to give a subtle definition to the lids and a Serge Lutens Lip Pencil mixed with balm to create a semi-glossy lip look.
