The Best Nude Lipsticks for Each Skin Tone

The perfect nude lip color will look subtle, romantic, and classic. But finding a flattering shade can be tough. Choose one that’s too light and you’ll look washed out; too dark and it’ll look like ’90s makeup gone wrong. The key to pulling it off (like Gigi Hadid does above) is picking a color that works with your skin tone. We asked celebrity makeup artist Hinako for some secrets.
If you have fair skin…
Go for nudes with a rosy tinge — they won’t wash you out, says Hinako. Try CoverGirl Coloricious Lipstick in Honeyed Bloom ($6.39, available at Drugstore.com), a subtle pinky-nude that enhances the natural hue of your lips while brightening your face.

If you have medium skin…
Have warm undertones? Go for a coral-y or peachy nude, Hinako says. Her favorite: Nars Sheer Lipstick in Barbarella ($27; available at Sephora).
If you have dark skin…
The best way to highlight your skin tone, Hinako says, is to find a brown- or gold-based nude that’s lighter than your natural lip color. Try Dior Rouge Dior in Carre D’Or ($35; available at Saks Fifth Avenue), which has a hint of sparkle that will look extra-glamorous in photos.
