In honor of our Editor-in-Chief Bobbi Brown’s interview with Oscar winning actress Halle Berry, we decided to take a look back at the star before she made her on-screen debut—going all the way back to her pageant days. In 1986 she became the first African-American entrant in the Miss World competition, where she finished sixth. Her breakthrough film role came six years later when she starred alongside Eddie Murphy in Boomerang.

Whether sashaying across the stage or kicking butt as a Bond girl on screen, Berry will forever remain an icon in our eyes.
