#TBT "...Baby One More Time" Hits #1
It’s hard to believe it has already been 16 years since Britney Spears’ hit single “…Baby One More Time” nabbed the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart in January 1999. Spears was only 16 years old when she filmed the music video that kicked off her career in 1998. You want to know what I was doing at 16? Not that.

The most iconic look from the video is, of course, when Spears appears in class, counting down to the sound of the last bell with her hair in pigtail braids, a glossy lip and of course, that tied up white shirt and mini skirt—a look that inspired more than a few of copy cats at my junior high school (yeah, maybe I was one of them) and long lines of girls at Claire’s buying fuzzy pink hair ties.
As the video continues Spears appears in the school parking lot wearing a pink sports bra and Adidas track pants and continues to sing about all that loneliness with her hair half up and pulled in to two small pigtails. This scene leads to the final look of the video, Spears in the school gym rocking yet another set of pigtails (they say three’s a trend) and shimmery eye shadow. While the singer’s look has changed dramatically over the years (everyone remembers 2007, right?), the song remains just as good as you remember it.
