Stay-At-Home Moms With This Many Kids Are the Happiest

From Good Housekeeping

Apparently the more kids you have running around the house, the happier you'll be. Redbookmag.com just released the results of a first-of-its-kind survey that takes a look at the lives of 558 stay-at-home and work-at-home moms.

They found that moms with four or more kids consider themselves "very" or "extremely" happy. As the writer points out: "For stay-at-home moms, managing four or more children will mellow all but the most stubborn of perfectionists."

Another big finding was that even though a mom may consider herself a SAHM, that doesn't mean parenting is her only job. Almost two-thirds of SAHMs contribute to their household income and 25 percent said they ran a business from home. So, it makes sense that 72% of SAHMs said society doesn't understand how much they do. When asked what salary they deserve, moms said $50,000.

And, of course, women stay at home for a variety of reasons. In this study, 36 percent said it was "because I wanted to," 15 percent said "childcare is too expensive," 7 percent said their careers weren't family-friendly and 6 percent are doing it because her partner wanted her to.
