Singer Jessie Baylin's Beauty Guide to Nashville

Singer-songwriter Jessie Baylin is tough to pin down. Of course the Nashville-based beauty is a little bit country, but her songs also channel ‘70s folk, rock, funk, and soul; it’s easy to move between genres when your voice is both husky and sweet. In addition to her cool sound, Baylin also boasts porcelain skin and an enviable mane, so we asked her to spill her secrets. Below, her guide to Tennessee’s bustling capital, the city she now calls home with her husband, Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill.

MAKEUP: I purchase most of my products at Private Edition & Woo Cosmetics. Well-curated beauty shops are a beautiful black hole where I could spend hours. Private Edition stocks some of my favorite splurges—ByTerry makeup, Hermès perfume, and Oribe hair products. At Woo, they have Diptyque candles, Armani mascara, and La Mer’s body cream, along with pretty hair accessories.

ACUPUNCTURE: East Nashville Community Acupuncture works on a sliding scale of $15 to $30 a treatment, depending on what you can afford. I always walk out of their space feeling lighter.

MASSAGE: Joy Shaw comes to my house twice a month for massages and she’s changed our lives.  She really understands the body, and her hip release work has kept me moving well for the past few years.

NAILS: I love to hide away at Escape Spa. It’s located in a shopping mall in Belle Meade, but don’t let that scare you. Once you’ve taken the elevator down to the basement spa you’re transported to a low-lit den that instantly takes the edge off. The Almond Bliss or organic manicure/pedicure with Anastasia are my favorite treatments.

SKINCARE: When I need deep exfoliation—too much fun in the sun!—I go to Tracey at Trace Skincare. She’s honest with her clients and isn’t afraid to tell it like it is. She’s changed my skin with her laser work. Any damage I’ve done over the years from the sun, she’s erased. Redness and brown spots are zapped on the spot.

FITNESS: I train with Dede Brignardello at Willow Pilates. We started working together before my wedding and she’s made me long, lean and strong for the past four years, including through and after my pregnancy.

CUT:  I’m originally from New Jersey, and I have to admit, I haven’t given up my stylist Christine Ku who owns Zoku Salon in Summit, New Jersey. I have her cut my hair every time I’m in town.

COLOR: Leah Hoffman at Parlour & Juke, is hands down the best for blondes in Nashville. Mixing foils and Balayage technique, she creates the perfect combination of warm and bright baby butter blonde highlights.
