Actress Shannen Doherty recently revealed she has finished chemotherapy in her battle against breast cancer. And on Saturday night, the 90210 star hit the red carpet for the first time since completing the treatment. She was the host of the Gratitude Gala for the Animal Hope & Wellness Foundation, and posed alongside animal rights activist Marc Ching.

"I feel great. I mean, I feel good, I'm super positive, I'm happy with where I'm at right now," she told Us Weekly. "Cancer, for me, as hard as it is, has been a blessing. It has changed who I am as a human being forever. It's altered my life in ways I can't even speak of."

She echoed that when talking to People, saying that she felt lucky to be there that night. "I feel great, I feel lucky," she said. "Lucky that I'm here, lucky that I'm standing next to Marc, lucky that I get to be a part of this foundation, lucky that we get to be a voice tonight for the voiceless and just lucky."

She said that she has cultivated a whole new "cancer family" of fellow survivors who have supported her through her treatment. "I just thought that I was doing something that was beneficial, maybe to myself and to others, and maybe through that journey we could all learn something," she told E! News. "I've learned a lot from my fans who follow me and my cancer family who post and tell me about their journey." She also teared up talking about Ching's charity work and how much it meant to her.

Doherty gave a speech at the event, explaining how cancer made her want to give back even more. "Cancer can be isolating and depressing, can be all-consuming. Cancer can overwhelm your life," she said on stage. "Seeing animals being rescued touched my heart and they renew my determination to dig deep and continue my own personal fight. … [Animals] encouraged me to face adversity with the same strength and grace that they display in the face of destruction."
