Serena Williams Is Not Hiding Her Feelings About Her Pregnancy Lips

Most stars — and regular people, too — seem to get pretty happy about being pregnant. Serena Williams is no exception. In addition to posing nude on magazine covers and walking red carpets, the world-class tennis champ, who’s expecting her first child, seems to be over-the-top excited about the changes that are happening to her body.

Posting on social media platform Snapchat this past weekend the athlete wrote, “Pregnancy lips are finally here! I’m SOOOOOOOO excited!”

Those so-called pregnancy lips are due to the normal swelling that happens during pregnancy. According to the American Pregnancy Association, women produce “approximately 50% more blood and body fluids to meet the needs of the developing baby.” So we can see why she’s happy about all that extra fullness.

Williams and her fiancee Alexis Ohanian, the CEO of web community Reddit, have been engaged since December 2016 and announced their baby in April of this year. The baby is due in September.
