Raven Symoné Wears A Gorgeous Rainbow-Colored Fishtail Braid For Spring
Raven Symoné isn’t one to shy away from bold beauty choices, and her most recent hair change shows exactly that. In a behind-the-scenes snap debuted via Instagram, Symoné gave fans a sneak peek into her new rainbow hair extensions. The multi-colored strands had varied patterns, with ombré, stripes, and faded pastels all present:

But it wasn’t until Raven’s actual hair mixed with the extensions that we got to see the full effect of the colors, which was much cooler than we could have imagined. Naturally a brunette, Raven’s hair darkened the pastels that were originally seen in the extensions, leaving an outcome very similar to the oil slick hair trend that’s been circulating on Instagram for summer 2016 all thanks to Sally Hershberger colorist, Aura Friedman (check out one of her first oil slick clients here). But it was the fishtail braid that officially made the look, placing the contrasted shades against each other in a lengthy plait, reaching ear-to-ear and down her back.

The hair style, created by hairstylist Derick Monroe, flaunts iridescent colors for an inky effect on her dark hair, giving off a similar look to an oil spill or gasoline on the ground after a rainstorm. If you’re looking to copy this look yourself, simply ask your stylist to add tones of purples, magentas and greens throughout your hair. Since this coloring process skips the bleaching process entirely, it’s a great option for dark-haired people who want to color their hair but are afraid of experiencing extensive hair damage. Just keep in mind that the darker the base color, the bigger the pigment pay off will be!
