Pregnant Olivia Wilde Shames Selfish Subway Riders
If you were heavily, heavily pregnant and on a subway, bus, or train, you’d expect someone to offer you their seat, right?
According to a recent tweet by Olivia Wilde, nope — people can be pretty darn selfish.
Wilde is expecting her second child with fiancé Jason Sudeikis, and when she recently rode the subway, no one offered her a place to sit.
So she took to Twitter to call out her fellow passengers:
NBD, able-bodied ???? riders who won’t give your seat to a GIANT preggo. I’ll just stand riiiiight next to your head and pray I go into labor.

“NBD, able-bodied riders who won’t give your seat to a GIANT preggo,” Wilde tweeted. “I’ll just stand riiiiight next to your head and pray I go into labor. “
Other Twitter users replied to the tweet with similar sentiments, such as “Stand over their shoes and hope your water breaks” and “I’m a big fan of sustained eye contact and repeatedly jostling them with my belly.”
Several others said they’d had similar experiences themselves. One user tweeted: “I’m 39 weeks pregnant still commuting and I basically have to stand the whole [ride] into the city! It’s disgusting!!”
Another wrote: “I rode the A my entire pregnancy, these clowns raced me to seats. I never got a seat. Even the day I went into labor on train.”
One even recalled: “One time I only got a seat bc I fainted. Another time, i stood in front of 3 men who didn’t move. #jerks.”
However, one response reminded Wilde not to judge outward appearances.
“I would give my seat to you anytime. You can’t judge who is able bodied tho. Heart conditions/cancer/ME etc are unseen.”
