Actress and author Carrie Fisher, best known for her role in the Star Wars movies, died Tuesday at 60 after suffering a massive heart attack. The actress had finished filming for the eighth Star Wars film prior to her death, so we'll get to see one last glimpse at Princess (now General) Leia Organa.

To mourn her loss and honor her legacy, Fisher's fans took to social media to show just how important Fisher's most iconic character was. Back in the 1970s, it was rare to see a female character take so much action and show so much agency and power. Fans posted photos of their daughters gleefully dressing as Princess Leia, complete with her iconic hair buns, to show how her legacy will live on.

And it's not just this generation of kids who looked up to Fisher's character. Some fans even posted photos of themselves dressed as Princess Leia when they were children. Leia has inspired little girls for decades, and that certainly won't go away anytime soon.
