Michael Kors Launches Gold Fragrance Collection

Amidst New York Fashion Week madness, fashion designer Michael Kors celebrated the unveiling of his three new fragrances: White Luminous Gold, 24K Brilliant Gold, and Rose Radiant Gold. The Gold Collection’s #FlauntYourGold party was held at the Top of The Standard in New York City on Sunday night.
Kors explained the need for a trio of aromas: “It’s the mood you’re in. Women have a lot of different moods in a given day. Rose gold; you feel very romantic. Yellow gold is unabashedly glamorous; you want to be noticed. You want to have fun. When you want to feel crisp: white gold. It’s just that.”
When designing a gold dress for the red carpet, Kors keeps a certain type of woman in mind, “Someone who’s comfortable in their own skin,” he said. This is not for the wallflower.” For the fragrances, he told Yahoo Beauty that he envisions the woman wearing them to be “someone who knows herself, her moods, and how to express them.”
Physically, there is one characteristic that Kors always finds attractive. “There is nothing sexier than a woman with a beautiful glow after an amazing vacation,” he said. But when transitioning his iconic-bronzed runway look from summer to fall, there isn’t one skin tone that fits all. “If you have pale skin, you don’t want to paint yourself coffee brown. You’ll look insane! It’s all about looking healthy and glowing. Shine and hydration — that’s what matters.”
Speaking of the runway, Kors still credits his first show as his all-time favorite fashion week moment. “I was so young,” he recalled. “I didn’t think people would actually come. When I walked out at the end, it was mobbed. I was like, ‘Wow. This is really going to work.’ Thirty-something years later, it’s still exciting. It’s still fun.”
The Gold Fragrance Collection ranges in price from $27 (in a rollerball, available in October) to $100 (available now).
