Merriam-Webster Shares the Definition of 'Feminism' After Kellyanne Conway Makes Her Own

After Kellyanne Conway stated Thursday that it's difficult to call herself feminist "in the classic sense" as the word is both "anti-male" and "pro-abortion," Merriam-Webster stepped in to provide Conway with the actual definition of feminism—which makes no mention of either association.
"Feminism' is defined as 'the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities,'" the dictionary tweeted.
In her first public appearance since the Fox & Friends interview where she told viewers to "go buy Ivanka's stuff," Conway appeared at the Conservative Political Action Conference and was asked to explain the new wave of "conservative feminism." She responded by saying that she is not one for labels, specifically the label of "feminist."
"It's difficult for me to call myself a feminist in a classic sense because it seems to be very anti-male, and it certainly is very pro-abortion in this context, and I’m neither anti-male or pro-abortion," Conway responded to the moderator Mercedes Schlapp. "So, there's an individual feminism, if you will, that you make your own choices...I look at myself as a product of my choices, not a victim of my circumstances.
This isn't the first time that the dictionary has clapped back at Conway or her fellow conservatives. In January, Merriam-Webster tweeted the definition of "fact" following Conway's now-infamous claim that President Trump's inaccurate statements about the inaugural crowd size were "alternative facts." Additionally, the dictionary posted a definition of "betrayal" on its website after White House press secretary Sean Spicer used the word to justify the firing of acting Attorney General Sally Yates—and then said "I'm not going to define the word."
