Meghan Trainor’s Grammys Makeup Look

For Sunday night’s Grammy Awards, Meghan Trainor was all about that old Hollywood glamour. She traded in her signature girly pop look for a much more sophisticated style with bright red lips and amped up lashes. Makeup artist Alison Christian explained the inspiration and application of her makeup look exclusively for Yahoo Beauty. “Meghan’s dress was very 1940s inspired so we decided to carry that through her makeup and hair as well, says Christian. “For her skin, we wanted a porcelain look, so we prepped with Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream Compact Hydrating Colour Corrector Broad Spectrum SPF 25 in Very Light ($38) so it wouldn’t look too dry. We wanted her fair skin to look really polished and matte, so we used a translucent powder to set that.”

Christian next contoured the cheek using Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour in Curvy Contour ($21), and applied Clinique Cheek Pop in Berry Pop ($21), a hot pink shade, right on the apples of the cheeks. “Next I took the Clinique All About Shadow Duo in Buttered Toast ($20) and applied the lighter shade as a wash all over the lid, and used the warmer brown shade in the outer corner of her eyes. I lined the eyes using Clinique Eye Defining Liquid Liner in Black ($17) to wing out the cat-eye.” Christian says Trainor was wearing some falsies to amp up her lashes, and they were topped off with Clinique High Impact Extreme Volume Mascara in Black ($20).

Trainor’s  retro look could not be complete without some bold lips. “Meghan loves a bright lip, and with her black dress and fair skin she wanted a pop of color on her lips. We used Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Heftiest Hibiscus ($17), a punchy red, and kept it in her clutch for touchups.”
