Master the Ombré Lip

I first fell for the ombré lip on the Prabal Gurung runway…or was it at Dior? Wait, maybe it was at Jason Wu? The two-toned statement lip has made its fair share of appearances on the runway over the past few seasons, enough to make me think it’s ready for real life. Luckily, it’s a lot easier to make it work off the catwalk than you think.

The key is sticking to two contrasting colors: one dark and one light. I like Nars Audacious Lipstick in Liv (a deep aubergine) paired with Revlon Super Matte Lipstick in Really Red (a true red). Apply the darker shade first, filling in your entire lip. Take the lighter shade and pat it into the center of your lip (use your finger or a lip brush) and blot together once. And just like that, a classic red lip feels a bit boring.
