This Manicure Could Revolutionize Your Morning Commute

Public transportation may be convenient in some ways, but it's totally annoying in others. Not only might you find yourself sandwiched between total strangers on a crowded train, but clawing around to find a bus or subway pass can be a major nuisance (particularly when it has chosen to be swallowed up by the black hole known as your purse). While there's really nothing that can be done about that whole smushed together with random people thing, a design student in the UK wants to make passing through those subway turnstiles a lot easier.

Lucie Davis, who is currently studying jewelry design at London's Central Saint Martins University, has supposedly developed press-on nails containing a microchip that acts the same as her city's Oyster card. While it's illegal to deconstruct an Oyster card, Davis tells the Evening Standard that she did go ahead and get the greenlight from the Transport for London office to pursue her project.

Because the press-on tips carry the same chip as an Oyster card, supposedly all you need to do is apparently tap your nails against the reader and you're granted access to the train (or in Davis's case, the Tube). She even designed the nails in the same colors used for the Oyster card, although they're definitely more chic.

You won't be able to find these tech-savvy tips for purchase just yet, but Davis did tell the Evening Standard she does hope that her invention will eventually make it to market...and so do we. No more purse rifling as we're racing to catch a train sounds like an absolute dream.
