Makeup Artist Pat McGrath's Inspiring Instagram Talent Search
Pat McGrath is one of the most influential makeup artists in the world and a total genius. The Brit made a name for herself in the ‘90s while working with acclaimed photographers and designers using bountiful color and innovative techniques with immense range, from high fashion to edgy street culture. Often working with her fingers en lieu of brushes, McGrath always thinks outside the box when it comes to makeup, and it’s hard for other industry experts to come close in terms of creativity. She somehow works an astounding four fashion weeks a year, but the artist can’t do it all herself! So McGrath is currently hosting an Instagram contest, hunting for one to eight new members for her backstage team. Professionals and amateurs alike have been encouraged to show their talent on social media, using the hashtag #backstagewithpatmcgrath and the results are awe-inspiring.
"I just thought that there are so many talented people out there, and everyone deserves a chance,” McGrath told Vogue UK. “I have a very, very big team and I'm always looking for great talent in makeup artistry, so I thought I'd open the search. I've been overwhelmed with the quality of the work I've been seeing.” The contest is set to end on December 1 and she plans to fly the best makeup artists to New York City to see their work.
