Makeup Artist Nails Smoky Eyes While in Labor

For New York-based makeup artist Alaha Majid, experimenting with new colors and techniques is a way of life. “[Makeup artistry] is more than a job for me, it is a passion,” she proclaims on her website. That passion recently followed her right into the maternity ward when she applied a full face of makeup —complete with perfect smoky eyes—during the labor and delivery of her baby girl!
The popular beauty Instagrammer gave her followers a play-by-play of her experience. “I [stopped applying makeup] during contractions and [picked] up where I left off once [they] passed,” she explained next to a photo of her in a hospital bed, touching up with a makeup sponge.

In one photo she said the makeup was take her mind off of contractions, but she shared that sometimes the contractions were a little too much to handle in addition to applying makeup, “so hubby was there to save the day!”

Malid’s look was complete once the baby was ready to make her debut! In a sweet photo of herself with the newborn, presumably right after giving birth, the makeup artist showed off impressive glimmering rose gold lids, serious lashes, and flawless skin. “It was tough, but I’m lucky enough to have been able to experience it firsthand and am so grateful,” she said of her delivery.
