Some would say that Lena Dunham has never looked better. She began working with celebrity stylist Cristina Ehrlich in 2016, and she’s definitely sleek and chic. She’s also admittedly slimmed down, crediting the new president with her inability to eat.

But the writer and actress isn’t rejoicing in her new shape. Quite the opposite, says the co-creator of Lenny Letter.

“It’s not a healthy diet,” Dunham tells Yahoo Style about the Trump diet, which she discussed on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM radio show Monday morning (“Try soul-crushing pain and devastation and hopelessness and you, too, will lose weight,” she had said).

“What I was attempting to say,” she explains, “is that the kind of stress we feel when there’s a governmental regime like this affects all our bodies.”

Upon arriving at Stern’s studios, “Howard told me I look tiny in person. That almost didn’t feel like a compliment,” says Dunham, whose final season of Girls premiers on Sunday. “The only thing I can credit is my own anxiety. A lot of women can relate to this sense of nausea and anxiety. It’s the first time I wanted to eat less.” Still, never one to dwell or fixate on her weight, she adds, “It’s a celebration and a terrible tragedy.”
