Keurig Cold Medicine Cups Are Now a Thing

From Good Housekeeping

Cough syrup not your cup of tea? You’re in luck, because CVS just launched cold and flu pods that you can brew in your Keurig. Yes, you read that correctly.

Each pod produces a single-serving of tea with acetaminophen (a fever-reducer), dextromethorphan (a cough suppressant), and phenylephrine (a nasal decongestant). These are the same ingredients and doses you would find in traditional cold and flu medications, but unlike gag-worthy syrups, the pods are “berry infused with menthol and green tea flavors,” according to CVS.

There’s even a drowsy nighttime version that comes in “honey lemon infused chamomile and white tea flavors.” Sounds good

And don’t worry, you don’t need to run out and buy a special machine. They’ll work in the same one that brews your lattes every morning. Just to make sure, we checked with the Good Housekeeping Institute’s Director of the Kitchen Appliances and Technology Lab, Sharon Franke, who said the pods won’t harm your precious Keurig.

Of course, the idea of sipping medicine-infused tea isn’t new (hello, Theraflu), it’s still a pretty innovative way to incorporate one of America’s most beloved machines into the flu-fighting mix.

If you’re interested in stocking up on these pods, we suggest doing so now, before cold season really kicks in. They’re available at CVS for about $9, but just remember to always check with your doctor before taking any sort of medication - even if comes in the form of a delicious tea.
