Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid Aren't "True Supermodels," According to Rebecca Romijn

From Redbook

Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner have been crushing it on the runways as of late, but one industry vet is not a fan.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Rebecca Romijn candidly spoke about the model duo, attributing their success to their social media footprint.

The 43-year-old former supermodel said, "No one has proven yet that numbers of followers translate to revenue. So it is frustrating."

She wasn't shy about taking others down either. "I know a lot of people-legitimate fashion people-can't stand it," she added. "Hate it that these, you know, social media stars are now the supermodels in fashion. They are not true supermodels."

While Jenner and Hadid didn't make Romijn's cut for model-worthy status, Ashley Graham did.

"Ashley Graham is one of the most beautiful women I have ever laid eyes on," she said of the plus-size model (though I don't particularly care for that term). "She is incredibly healthy and I think it's fantastic that SI is opening up our standards of beauty to include somebody that a lot more people in our country can relate to. Women don't get sexier than Ashley Graham-she is just as hot as can be."

She also called out magazines, like Vogue, that have supported Kendall and Gigi's meteoric rise to stardom. "The thing is, I have always looked to Vogue magazine to lead the way, not be a follower," she said. "I rely on Vogue to set the standard, not follow what everybody else s doing. So I have been disappointed that fashion magazines have been supporting this trend of social media stars to set our style standards. But it will change; fashion always does."
