Katy Perry Is Rocking a New 'Star Wars' Inspired Updo You've Gotta See

Katy Perry recently dyed her hair platinum blonde because “it’s like the last color in all of the Pantone books that I haven’t done, so it’s my last resort.” Yet, when it comes to new styles, the possibilities are still endless and at the BRIT Awards on Wednesday night, the pop star wore an elaborate knotted updo consisting of small buns down the middle of her head.

Does the faux-hawk look familiar? The look is very reminiscent of a classic Star Wars updo — but probably not the one that first comes to mind. Instead of drawing on Carrie Fisher’s iconic Princess Leia buns, Perry’s hair seemed to be a nod to the triple bun style Rey sported throughout Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Before hitting the red carpet in an Atelier Versace ensemble, Perry shared a pic of the cool style on Instagram. Her dark roots were slicked back and her golden blonde strands were triangularly sectioned off, and twisted up into secured buns. After less than an hour, her fans were in a frenzy falling head over hills for the style. One person wrote, “your hair looks so cool,” while another also commented on her hairstylist Shon Hyungsun’s with just as much enthusiasm. “Oh myyyy this hairstyle!” one such commenter shared.

Perry’s not the only one to fall under the Rey force. Emma Watson was recently spotted at a press event in Paris for Beast and Beauty with a brunette version of the look featuring less mini buns than Perry.

Also, actress and star of HBO’s Insecure Issa Rae rocked a similar hair look that included cornrows and interconnected knots and large two-stranded braids.

Actress Allison Williams was recently seen out and about with eclectic fresh take on Rey Skywalker hair. Instead of buns, the sides of hair were rolled under, and there was a cornrow down the middle with tucked buns near the nape of her neck.
