John Frieda's Bringing Back Beach Blonde!

Why is it that your favorite beauty products—the ones you take for granted will be stocked on shelves forever—are always the ones suddenly discontinued? We’ve never understood why John Frieda stopped making our beloved Beach Blonde line, and apparently we’re not alone. Women around the world have been calling customer service and petitioning online for the return of the cult classic Ocean Waves spray. Ancient bottles are selling for over $100 on eBay and Amazon. So when the brand created a social media poll asking consumers to vote for their favorite throwback product, it’s no surprise that the beach spray won by a landslide. Now really for the good news? It’s coming back!

In 2015 John Frieda is launching a new and improved Beach Blonde collection. At a press event on Wednesday night, brand expert and stylist to the stars Harry Josh jokingly accepted credit for the relaunch. As an industry leader who has the ear of the brand, he felt that bringing back John Frieda’s famous beach texturizer was a must. Thankfully Karen Frank, Vice President of Marketing for John Frieda Hair Care understood the need was there, too. “When we first introduced the Beach Blonde Sea Spray in the early 2000s, we started the laid- back beach waves trend that has since become a coveted style mainstay,” Frank said. “After launching the beach-chic look so many years ago, it’s only fitting that now we’re bringing this beloved product lineup back to give our loyal consumers the formulas they love that perfectly meet their styling needs.”

Starting on Monday, November 17 there will be a pre-sale of the revamped Beach Blonde Sea Waves Sea Salt Spray on Target.com. The beach spray will be available in 2015 along with three other items. Beach Blonde Cool Dip Purifying Shampoo is a minty-fresh cleanser with detoxifying seaweed. Beach Blonde Smooth Seas Detangling Conditioner also has a minty cooling effect that quenches dry or tangled hair. Lastly, Beach Blonde Sun Streaks Lightening Spray creates subtle (read: not orange) highlights with natural sunlight. While we haven’t been able to try them yet, we’ve been assured the full collection has innovative formulas but the same iconic scent that transports you to a summer beach day. On this crisp November day, all we can say is, CAN WE HAVE IT NOW?
